The University of Glasgow will be what is known as the ‘Data Controller’ of your personal data processed in relation to the Gaelic Connect application. This privacy notice will explain how The University of Glasgow will process your personal data.
Why we need it
We are collecting your basic personal data such as name, email address/contact details, age-range and Gaelic language proficiency, current location dataand attendance at events,in order to track the audience engagement and interest in this app as well as what this can infer about the use of the Gaelic language.We will not use your data for marketing purposes unless we ask you for explicit consent.

We must have a legal basis for processing all personal data. In this instance, the legal basis is:
Consent – You must by tick the consent box on your profile details/sign in page to login and user this service.
You must be over 16 to use this application.
What we do with it and who we share it with
All the personal data you submit is processed by staff at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom. In addition,
We will not transfer data outwith the European Economic Area (EEA). However, personal data shared on an open website should be regarded as being shared worldwide and should also be stated. Please also note, many online services have servers that are located outwith the EEA, however, the server for this website is hosted in the UK by Digital Ocean.
How long do we keep it for
Your data will be retained by the University if you are a user of the Gaelic Connect web app, and for up to 6 months after.After this time, data will be securelydeleted.
What are your rights?*
You can request access to the information we process about you at any time. If at any point you believe that the information we process relating to you is incorrect, you can request to see this information and may in some instances request to have it restricted, corrected or, erased. You may also have the right to object to the processing of data and the right to data portability.
